Travel Nursing Destination: Massachusetts

Salem, MassachusettsChock-full of history and known for Harvard University, Boston cream pie and Plymouth Rock, among other things, Massachusetts is the perfect destination for your next travel nursing assignment. Below are just a few reasons to work in this state.

Taking a refresher course in American history. Some of our country’s most memorable historical events have occurred in Massachusetts, including the Pilgrims landing in 1620 at Plymouth Rock, the Boston Tea Party, Paul Revere’s ride and the battles of Lexington and Concord. Though not related to the American Revolution, Salem, the site of the infamous witch trials, is also worth a visit, especially during Halloween. If you’re a literary buff, Walden Pond (where Thoreau lived) and the Ralph Waldo Emerson house will allow you to step back into time.

Exploring Boston’s attractions. Go to a Red Sox or Celtics game, get spectacular views of the city from the Custom House’s observation deck on the 26th floor, take the Samuel Adams brewery tour, visit the Mapparium (a three-story stained glass globe) and ride the thrilling Codzilla around the Boston Harbor. If those aren’t enough, check out the more historic side of Boston with a drive to Castle Island, ride on a schooner during Boston Harborfest and tour of the islands around Boston Harbor. Driving from beaches to the Berkshires. You probably think of Massachusetts as a coastal state with sandy beaches and large bays for sailing — which is true. Boston has always been an important shipping port because of its proximity to the ocean, and many vacationers enjoy the beaches on Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket. The state is filled with coves and estuaries, which make natural harbors. However, Massachusetts also offers Pioneer Valley and the rolling Berkshire Mountains to the west, perfect for hiking and biking.
