Lucy Hartenberger—who rates herself a 10 on a scale of 1–10 in terms of weirdness (“in a good-weird way”)—says she found her perfect place among all the other “goofy go-getters” when she joined RNnetwork in 2005.
As evidence of her go-getterness—Lucy has in-depth knowledge of the nurse staffing industry and a well-rounded academic background in microbiology, immunology, chemistry, and English. Growing up in St. Louis, Missouri, Lucy dreamed about becoming a surgeon. Alas, the dream ended when she passed out in the OR while volunteering at a hospital.
Her colleagues might be intrigued to learn that Ghandi, Bruce Lee, and SpongeBob SquarePants, though not all leaders per se, inspire Lucy in one way or another. They might also be surprised to learn that Lucy is a pretty impressive cook. “Beef Wellington, soufflé, homemade pasta…I’m pretty sure that’s why my husband married me.”
Lucy calls her family her greatest accomplishment. She is married to Chris and has a little girl, Mirabel, and two stepsons, Eric and Matthew. “I never thought I would get so lucky,” she says.
